- You will need to store them where children and pets cannot get to them.
- The storage space needs to be ventilated and not in extreme heat or sunshine.
- The chemicals will need to be stored in a proper container with a tight-fitting lid.
- Store the chemicals separately — don’t mix them in the same container.
- Don’t store them in a way that means you need to reach over your head to get them down.
- Ask the local municipality where you live how to safely and properly dispose of the containers when empty
- Don’t reuse the chemical containers
- Chemicals shouldn’t be stacked upon one another
- Don’t store dry and liquid chemicals together
- Don’t keep pool chemiclas in a space with household chemicals, flammable materials, herbicides, fertilizers, etc.
In addition to storing the chemicals properly and safely, make sure you are protecting yourself when you’re using them. Wear gloves. Wear eye protection and long sleeves. Wash your hands thoroughly when you’re done using them.
