Champaign, Illinois pool contractors offer poolside furniture tips

You put a lot of time and effort into choosing your pool and now it’s time to choose your poolside furniture. You will, naturally, need to invest in furniture that can weather the elements – rain, sun, falling debris and wet swimmers in their bathing suits and pool chemicals. You need furniture that will take that wear and tear, but it also has to be comfortable, especially since you will be sitting in it in bathing suits or shorts.

Will your furniture be used year round? Will you need to pack it up and store it for the off season?  If you don’t have indoor storage space you will need furniture that is sturdy enough to withstand storms and wind.

There are many types of pool furniture from which to choose and the swimming pool contractors from Imperial Pools in Decatur, Illinois offer this short list: fiberglass swimming pool

  • Heavy duty plastic – water repellant and lightweight
  • Teak or cedar – a bit pricy but they age gracefully and withstand the weather with light care
  • Wrought iron and cast aluminum – they both resist rust but can be hard on the skin

NOTE: Any of these styles can be dressed up and made more comfortable through the addition of comfy, weather resistant cushions.  It’s best to get cushions made of quick-drying foam that are covered in a mildew, water resistant material – one that also resist fading.

Rustic twig furniture, outdoor wicker and other wooden furniture are other choices, but they could be scratchy against nearly bare skin. Rustic twig furniture does require regular sealant applications to keep it viable for the long haul.

Regardless of the style of pool furniture you choose, you will still want to perform maintenance and clean them with soap and water to keep them beautiful for years to come.
